He was born in 1954 in South Africa. In 1982 he created the company “WurreWurre” with Philippe De Maertelaere and the dog Boost, a clown duo entirely dedicated to the promotion of the useless. He then performed in theatres and festivals around the world. Tom Roos is also a theatre teacher (specialising in clowns) and director in Belgium and abroad. After 2000, he regularly works in Soweto, South Africa, with children and adolescents from the ghettos. He also continues his career as an actress and actor.
Since 2000, Tom Roos, with the support of the Flemish Community, has been working regularly in Soweto with the Ipelegeng Community Centre to create high quality street and theatre performances with young people from the municipality.
He also works internationally as a director, comedian, storyteller, clown and teacher.
Since 2014, Tom Roos is co-founder of CONTACTCLOWN IN DE ZORG, a professional group of clowns providing care for people with dementia and people with mental disabilities.
Tom Roos is also an active member of Clowns Without Borders Belgium, having carried out several missions to refugee centres in Belgium and Lebanon.

Nuvem Voadora is a contemporary circus and street theatre company that celebrated 10 years of existence in 2018. Since its creation, the company has sought to promote and demystify the language of the Clown.
All his creations are a reflection of this, crossing the art of the clown with different techniques and various artistic languages, such as music, dance or video, involving professionals with different backgrounds, to create shows accessible to all audiences. The company Nuvem Voadora has a very consistent roaming program, taking its creations to several cities in Portugal and abroad. The Espumante Brothers are one of the reference projects. This clown band has performed all over the world, from refugee camps in Palestine, to hospitals or prisons, remembering the importance of respect for human rights.
Since 2013, the company Nuvem Voadora has been organizing the International Clown Meeting in Vila do Conde, one of the unique events in the country that has the art of Clown as a programmatic focus.
